Vitamins for your Hair

vitamins for your hairVitamins for your hair may sound crazy, but for those of us in the industry – it’s well known that vitamins play an essential role in maintaining healthy and vibrant hair. Your hair consists of proteins, amino acids and vitamins. The more you use heat or color on your hair – the more you’re stripping away nutrition which is critical in maintaining a healthy head of hair. Diet also plays a huge role and if you’re skipping meals or ingesting less than quality foods – your hair will suffer. The less vitamins and nutrients you give to your hair translates to lack of growth, dull, dry and brittle hair.

Using the right haircare products and seeing a good stylist are of course two of the best ways to keep your hair in good condition. However, to have truly beautiful and radiant hair, you may want to consider stocking up on a few key vitamins. While you can get any of these vitamins in pill form, we believe that getting them via healthy foods is the best method. If you can’t get these essential nutrients via your daily food intake, then purchasing these vitamins in pill form is the next best thing. Here are a few of the best vitamins you can take for your hair:

Biotin: Biotin increases the elasticity of the hair as well as protecting against dryness. It also helps prevent hair loss. This can be found in brown rice, green peas and lentils.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A helps produce sebum which keeps the hair from drying out and breaking off. This can be found in carrots, spinach and peaches.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E helps blood circulation which helps produce new hair and grow existing hair. This can be found in beans, soy beans, and leafy greens.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps maintain skin & hair health. This can be found in citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes and green peppers.

It takes about a month or so for your hair to absorb the vitamins and get into your system.  So, that means the sooner you begin eating better and/or taking nutritional supplements, the sooner you’ll see positive results! Once your body has had a chance to fully ingest your new nutritional regime,  you should start seeing new hair grow at a rate of 1 inch per month. You’ll also notice your hair becoming much healthier, vibrant and noticeably radiant. To achieve and maintain hair that others will notice – it’s so important to give your body the right nutrients it needs. We hope all our clients will give additional supplementation a serious consideration – we know you’ll be very happy with the results.
